Domestic Abuse

Domestic abuse is a widespread issue involving the misuse of power and control within close relationships, causing emotional, physical, and psychological harm. Women are most commonly affected, and children who witness abuse are now recognised in law as victims in their own right. Raising awareness is essential to help people identify and respond appropriately.

Course Content

Introduction

Domestic abuse is defined as an incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive, threatening, degrading and violent behaviour, including sexual violence, in the majority of cases by a partner or ex-partner, but also by a family member or carer. It is very common. In the vast majority of cases it is experienced by women and is perpetrated by men (womans aid, 2025).

The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 recognised children being victims in their own right if they see or hear domestic abuse, as well as if they are injured during. Domestic Abuse is sadly far too common and we are passionate about raising awareness and educating people on how to recognise, respond, refer and support those affected.
