Course Content
Introduction
Non accidental injury (NAI) is when someone is hurt on purpose (in this case, a child or young person). It is incredibly worrying when this happens and it is important we all know what to look for, how to respond and how to refer. Safeguarding is everyones responsibility and we should all know how to safeguard children, especially our most vulnerable (such as our non-mobile babies, children or SEN children).
What does the training include?
- Gain an understanding of what NAI is.
- Understand which groups of Children & Young people are most vulnerable.
- Develop knowledge regarding what concerning injuries may be in children and young people.
- Have an awareness of the importance of responding to these concerns and learning from Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panels (CSPRP).
- Gain knowledge on Abusive Head Trauma (AHT).
- Be able to appropriately respond to the identification of potential NAI.
- To feel confident in making a referral to the local authority or NSPCC.
- To understand what happens following a referral.
