Children's Safeguarding Training
Level Two training is for those who regularly work with children and young people. It expands on Level One, offering deeper insight into safeguarding concerns, escalation processes, and what happens after a referral to Children’s Services.

Course Content
Introduction
Level Two training is usually undertaken by those who have frequent and/or close contact with children and young people e.g. those who run baby clubs, teaching assistants, childminders (although I recommend level 3), sports club assistants. The training covers everything that level 1 includes, but in more detail to provide a greater understanding of safeguarding procedures/scenarios and how to escalate.
The training will also discuss what happens following a referral into Children’s Services.
What does the training include?
This course includes the same criteria as Level One but in greater depth:
- To understand what Safeguarding is and why it is important.
- To gain knowledge on basic safeguarding legislation.
- Gain an understanding on different types of abuse, including domestic abuse.
- How to recognise these different signs of abuse & the impact on health/social needs.
- To have an awareness of the most vulnerable groups of children.
- Gain an understanding of the complexities of 16 and 17 year olds alongside mental capacity.
- To gain knowledge regarding the Think Family agenda and the “trio of vulnerabilities”.
- Develop awareness on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the impact on health/social needs.
- To gain a basic understanding of exploitation.
- Understand how to respond to a disclosure/concern and report these alongside barriers to disclosure.
- What to do if you have a concern regarding a colleague?
- Role of a designated safeguarding officer.
- Introduction to multi-agency teams and local authorities.
- What happens following a referral into Children’s Services.
Where is the training?
This can be done on MS teams or face-to-face for groups at request – please contact me to discuss.
How long is the training?
90 minutes – 2 hours. If you cannot see a date/time that works, please do contact me and I can see if we can help. We book a 2 hour slot to ensure the training is not rushed and gives time for discussion.
Is this course CPD Certified?
Yes and you will get a certificate.
How much does this cost?
